WE ENDED THE 2024-25 SEASON ‘AVEC UN GRAND SALUT’
For the conclusion of our 2024-25 season, we celebrated the 200th anniversay of General Lafayette’s visit to Cincinnati in grand style. Our ball featured new dance reconstructions and music from the early 1800’s, lovely costuming, great food and, of course, the attendance of the revolutionary war hero himself. To get a sense of this event you can view the ball information HERE and pictures from the ball HERE. For some more history on Lafayette’s visit to Cincinnati click HERE.
SOME HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2023-24 SEASON
The Ragtime weekend with Joan Walton (Nov. 10-12, 2023) was fantastic. For a video from the weekend’s ball, visit Jeanette Watts’ Youtube channel ‘History is My Playground’ or click HERE. You can also find some videos and pictures to peruse on our site as well - click HERE. The weekend of Mar. 22-24, 2024, we were delighted to host our founder, Richard Powers, for a 19th Century dance weekend workshop and Victorian spring ball. We all enjoyed learning new variations on the classic dances we have come to love and the ball was spectacular. If you would like to see the schedule for the weekend click HERE.
Videos and Pictures from the 2023 Bridgerton Regency Ball

Video Compilation of Our 2022 Vintage Dance Week
In June of 2022, we held the 45th anniversary Flying Cloud Academy Vintage Dance week. This event included classes and balls in dance styles from the Regency, Victorian, Gilded Age, Ragtime and Jazz eras. Classes were held at Northern Kentucky University studios and the balls were held at venues such as Drees Pavilion, The Pheonix, Peterloon and the Netherland Plaza Hall of Mirrors. For a glimpse, click on the video.
The Flying Cloud Academy is dedicated to the preservation, performance, and teaching of historic ballroom dance and music. The FCA creates and maintains a thriving vintage dance community which provides opportunities for dancers at all levels to enjoy the magic of authentic historic dance and other related traditions. We share our love of dance through classes, performances, and the recreation of elegant evenings of dancing in period settings.
"The Flying Cloud dancers were wonderful! They were professional, considerate, and always drew a large crowd to watch them dance."
