A VERY SPECIAL ENGLISH COUNTRY DANCE EVENT
The Cincinnati English Country dancers are holding a lovely dinner-dance Spring Ball on May 17. Registration for this event has been extended to May 7, so register soon. This gracious event will be held in the historic (1862) School House Restaurant and General Store with check in at 6:30, dinner at 7:00 and hours of elegant Regency dancing to follow. WE ENDED THE 2024-25 SEASON ‘AVEC UN GRAND SALUT’
For the conclusion of our 2024-25 season, we celebrated the 200th anniversay of General Lafayette’s visit to Cincinnati in grand style. Our ball featured new dance reconstructions and music from the early 1800’s, lovely costuming, great food and, of course, the attendance of the revolutionary war hero himself. The weekend of Mar. 22-24, 2024, we were delighted to host our founder, Richard Powers, for a 19th Century dance weekend workshop and Victorian spring ball. Video Compilation of Our 2022 Vintage Dance Week
In June of 2022, we held the 45th anniversary Flying Cloud Academy Vintage Dance week. This event included classes and balls in dance styles from the Regency, Victorian, Gilded Age, Ragtime and Jazz eras. Classes were held at Northern Kentucky University studios and the balls were held at venues such as Drees Pavilion, The Pheonix, Peterloon and the Netherland Plaza Hall of Mirrors. The Flying Cloud Academy is dedicated to the preservation, performance, and teaching of historic ballroom dance and music. The FCA creates and maintains a thriving vintage dance community which provides opportunities for dancers at all levels to enjoy the magic of authentic historic dance and other related traditions. We share our love of dance through classes, performances, and the recreation of elegant evenings of dancing in period settings.
